From the recordings Daughter of a King and Been There, Done That!
This song is very personal to me. I was going through a repentance process and feeling unsure of how the Lord felt about me. One day, as I sat down at the piano, this song came flowing to my mind and hands. Under the circumstances, I felt it was a message directly from Heavenly Father to me, His little girl. Over the years I have felt more and more certain that He expects me to share this message with all His little girls everywhere--because He loves us, and because we ARE daughters of a king!
Lyrics
Through the city came a woman
With an angry crowd around.
Bending over as they drove her
Choosing stones from off the ground.
As they came, they called the Master's name,
Their virtue to proclaim in causing her this public shame.
Speaking slowly, meek and lowly
Came the Master's soft reply:
Let the sinless ones among you
Lift their rocks and let them fly.
Huddled low, and bracing for the blow,
The woman watched them go and wondered why they spared her so.
The Master pulled her off her knees
And said, My child, believe.
See yourself the way I do
And from temptation flee!
Chorus:
Cause you're a lady, a princess, a beauty--
Oh, you're a lady, a princess, royalty--
Daughter of a king!
Every Sunday, Molly Munday
Wears an ordinary dress.
Getting older, mirror told her
Though she tried to look her best.
Not a prize in anybody's eyes--
Her image there replies amid her disappointed sighs.
Time to go on, put the show on,
Take a smile from off the shelf.
Walls around her, they surround her
To protect her Sunday self.
But within, she fears the hearts of men
Will find her faults again,
Or simply, that she won't fit in.
Oh, woman, open up your eyes!
Let yourself believe!
See yourself through heaven's eyes,
Maybe then you'll see
Chorus:
